Because the light switch is all the way down on one end so when you turn it off you have to run for your life to escape the dark
Today was my first day at a different building to clean (I work for a cleaning business) the building is huge and filled with tons of long dark hallways. Oh and to top it off one of the light switches to the scariest hallway is in a dark torture looking room. ​

Yeah but the place has a number of different sections with lights that need to be turned off so no matter what I have to go through at least two dark hallways
