I hate phone calls (1 Viewer)

Does anyone else hate phone calls? I been sitting here lowkey shaking for 30 mins waiting for a phone call, I swear they were teasing me making me wait after they called me early the other week, making me be on edge longer just in case they call early again, at least it's over and done with now they're gonna do an online appointment next time so I basically just need to message them, phew


Idk what exactly it is about phone calls man, does anyone else feel this with phone calls?

Formal ones are by far the worst especially since a lot of the time there's appointments or you're told to expect a call from someone which makes it the WORST

For this one in particular I couldn't really prepare like that since I have no idea what to expect, being able to write a script or at least notes might help alleviate any anxiety I have for calls tho

I used to(sometimes still do, but thank heaven for caller id) dread phone calls during weekends when i slept in during my school days, n the phone rang-nobody else was home then in the morning and it was either my friend or somebody else known to me(this was before phone marketing was widespread and no caller id on land lines/or answering machines-at least not in my country then), id pretend to be asleep or close my eyes and ignore the phone[i dint hv any special reason to do so, it was maybe just a phobia of answering the phone, even if it was my friend. I dont know tat i ever overcame this, since nobody phones me in the morning anymore when iv just gotten up or when i sleep in on weekends. Yeah i hate phone calls since i made my first one as a kid. Kinda got traumatised by it maybe. Tat first one was torturous during but now i dread the before, not the during-just the before. I feels the OP.

Omg yeah when the home phone used to ring i'd pretend I couldn't hear it cuz my music or I was asleep so I didn't have to pick it up (my mum would get mad if she was busy and we didn't get it for her lol)

I think partially i might get this from my dad, a little. In the last 20 yrs, hed carry a cellphone BUT he wouldnt switch it on when he was out, mostly. It was only an emergency device hed use if NEEDED,which frustrated the hell out of all of us-cos we dint know where hed be n had to wait for him to come home , almost always wasnt anything urgent-just so frustrating to not be able to het in touch if WE needed to.
But if things were different i might be eaxactly like him, only reason maybe is we're from different generations obviously so i cant stand to hv my phone off unless i dint charge it n i use up all the juice. Id rather ppl use telegram or signal or when i had it, the discord app but ppl just call me on whatsapp n its just makes me nervous when it rings(for no discernible reason). Yeah, i feels ya-i thot i was the only one like this abt phone calls. Dint realise that out of 7.8 billion thered be others like me.

Oof carrying a phone and not turning it on I keep my phone on and topped up on battery all the time too, I may hate phone calls but i'm fine with texts lol, besides mobile phones are useful for other things aside from calls as well!

Yeah, i think but since he was always out on his own then, he'd switch it on maybe to play games n call ppl, but hed always get scolded by my aunt(his sister) tat he was incommunicado EVEN THO HE HAD A CELL PHONE, in S.E.A. n in our culture tats like a MAJOR SIN not to be available to be called when you hv a cellphone, or not to hv a cellphone but he did, hv a cellphone. I may hv inherited part of it the not wanting to be called but not the switching off my phone, LOL.

hm !! it just feels more personal ig? its always nice to hear your friends' voice and laughs
as for work related stuff idk i just find it hard to explain things over email so i like getting straight to the point and discuss things in detail. plus it always helps when you can hear their genuine reactions, especially in job interviews and such !

i hate phonecalls if it's not from people i know cause i get anxious and start planning and repeating what im gonna say over and over in my head.
if its my friends, i dont get as shaken up, but id still prefer texting
