Came across a post this morning from a company that puts together outdoorsy packages for adult women or for families (adult women + children of any gender). They range from beginner's experiences where it's a couple of hours teaching people how to hike respectfully and take in the environment, learn how to build fires or how to prepare supplies for being outdoors all day, etc. to full weekend long excursions taking people safely through their first kayaking experience or first overnight stay outdoors. It's all very wholesome.

So their April Fool's prank was that they were going to start offering a couple of men's only packages too, teaching the same skills to adult men. Except TROLOLOLOLOL, what fucking man doesn't know how to set up a tent or cook over an open fire? What a goddamn loser right????

In a roundabout way, it reminded me of the YouTube channel "Dad, how do I?" which was started by a guy who didn't have a father figure to teach him DIY skills, and he teaches everything from how to use a specific tool to how to troubleshoot problems around the house very nonjudgmentally.

So it was super disappointing to see this company's post and thinking they were doing the same thing, and it turns out they found the whole idea of men wanting a safe place to learn a new skill as completely absurd.

That's why on April Fool's Day and probably even the day before, you must avoid sales news from retailers all day because there is a high chance they're pranks.
