my mcu phase lasted like two days lmao. it ended when i was watching guardians of the galaxy in a movie theater (they brought back the 1st part here when the sequel came out) and threw up during the scene where star lord's mom was dying (of course i left the theater when i felt it coming i didn't make a mess).

Tom Holland is in the Sony Spider-Man Universe tho(SSMU?). It just happens to hv a portal/analogue(not analog) of the MCU too.
You could watch Cherry or other nonMCU movies with Tom Holland in em.?

thanks a lot, it's okay now. i don't exactly remember who james gunn is, is he one of the actors or a director/writer? what did he do that made you react like this? i only went to see that movie because i heard people praising the soundtrack so i don't care about it anymore but i'm curious.

He's the writer/director of GotG. He's also been fired n then reinstated for directing GotG3. He wrote some tweets long ago tat resurfaced. He doesn't seem to realise how stuff he writes affects ppl negatively smh.

I can only guess why you reacted to Star-Lord's mom's dying the way you did, but there's a whole mess of comics where a female character is a cipher whose dying/trauma is the motive/starting point of the (almost always, maybe always) male character.

Tat n how Gamora has the role of romantic interest instead of her own agency is a subtextual concern of his directing GotG movies. The soundtrack of 1 n 2 are prime mostalgia magnets of core MCU audiences, but maybe North American /western centric. Im not of tat generation or tat geographic nexus, so im less affected by the soundtrack.

I still like the MCU but can understand there are issues tat other ppl cant overlook or ignore. Im more of the overlooking type cos of how much i like the comics, n MCU rlly connects to Marvel comics stories n characters, both in good n bad ways.

You are perfectly right to avoid/stay away from MCU. To a much lesser extent i stay away/avoid horror movies cos it affects me in a not good way, not to ur extent but ur reaction is valid, you dont need to explain further. Does tat all make sense or am i being an ass?

i hateee that trope so much, in all kinds of media - actually i once wrote a whole paragraph on this forum about my hatred for this trope. the way sick people are sort-of portrayed only as an inspiration for perfectly healthy people to live their lives to the fullest because they don't have the chance to and shows their illness as something beautiful/meaningful (even though it's not what happened in gotg) rather than something painful and exhausting really annoys me. i understand why you'd stay away from horrors, movies are meant to affect you positively so it's good to avoid something which does the opposite. don't worry everything you said is perfectly fine
