as a vegan, i'm so sorry if you ever had any bad experience with other vegans i personally admit that it's not very pleasant for me to eat out with someone who's heavily into meat dishes as one of the reasons i became vegan is my disgust for meat, but as someone who lives among people who eat it on a daily basis, if i couldn't be friends with meat eaters then i'd have no friends so i just mind my own business and hope for others to do the same thing.

if that helps. I always try to think 'just be a good example, cook healthy and delicious vegan meals so everyone is envious' and just to show them, that I life well being vegan.

There are always two types of people that have a special diet: the relaxed ones and the fundamentalists. The ones that let you eat your favorite food (while they eat their favorite food) - and the ones you better shouldn't start talking to.

If I am going out to dinner with someone like that then I just order something without meat in it since there's plenty of food that suits even a vegan diet that doesn't have substitutes in that is just naturally good.
