why do artists call comilation albums Greatest Hits, #1's, etc. when it's really just all their singles? Like, on BSB's comp album, there were some singles that didn't do so hot on the charts, but they're still there. I think a better name for it would be "The Singles", no?

I don't buy such compilations. 'Greatest Hits' are the most popular songs but that doesn't necessarily mean they're my favorite songs. For example, I remember ABBA compilations without 'Eagle' and Queen compilations without 'Princess of the Universe' and 'Scandal'.

back when i was in my buying CDs phase, i didn't understand it either even though i'd buy the compilation albums the most often since my taste was pretty basic. usually a decent part of the songs on it weren't even actual hits, even though i understand that "the singles" doesn't sound that good. if i were an artist i'd just go the easy way and name my compilation album "the best of..."
