Didn't know that -- I got pierced at Claire's. It was fine but their piercing cleaner sucked. The pain didn't stop until I switched to H2Ocean's cleaner.

Yeah when I got pierced at Claire's I didn't have issues but the thing is with piercing guns is that since they are made of plastic, they can't be properly sterilized, so after multiple uses, that increases the chances of spreading diseases. And places like Claires aren't as regulated as tattoo/piercing shops which is why it's more risky. They can still disinfect the guns I guess, but the risk is still there since it can't be thoroughly cleaned with sterilization.

Additionally, the blunt force from piercing guns can damage the skin tissue.

But, obviously some people manage to avoid the potential risks and come out of it just fine though, still I'd rather keep the risk as low as possible hence why I prefer good tattoo/piercing places.
