Making a substitution/exclusion for a dish. I wanted to make chicken parm, but realized we don’t have mozzarella cheese and have almost no Parmesan cheese. But I do have some cheddar cheese which yeah isn’t really the same but it’s cheese at least? I should probably just make something else but I got my heart set in chicken parm

I theoretically could but don’t know if I want chicken parm to that level, as I would need to get public ready and drive 35 or so minutes round trip which is a bit much for me just for cheese. If I needed more things I might be more willing

As a Sicilian this pained me to read. Haha
You could technically do that but the flavor of cheddar is far more pungent than that of motz. I’d your ok with the different flavor then by all means. The the flavor of Cheddar does not go well with red sauce imho, but who knows you may like it

Yes, I would use less cheddar than mozzarella of course to start so it might be less overpowering. Also doesn’t chicken parm pain you in general because it’s not really Italian?
Also ngl I would generally go for a different dish but I’m trying to make something my brother might eat, which rules out most dishes.

I don’t know the lazy time we had a tortilla It’s been a really long time.

It has made its way into most Italian American households haha. Eggplant is the standard but most Americans don’t like it. I’m sure it would taste fine hahaha. Hope you found something he’d eat. I know what it’s like to have picky eaters around.

I just went with it and turns out we did have enough Parmesan for it
