I got bored waiting on it to bake so i got creative ans looked up a recipe for raspberry syrup with frozem raspberries
It turned out good, but when jt comes to baking, i am hardky patient and i waited long enough for it to cool of but it didn't turn into a syrup until after i had poured it in. What was left in the pot defintely was though 😅
She wanted the fruit cake they show in the publix commercials. She wanted my dad to buy it a Lord knows he won't 💀 so i took it upon myself to convince her to let me make it instead. She agreed. I never mentioned my reasoning to her though. I honestly didn't want to go to another store that day and i felt bad that i had legitimately forgotten abt a present and it was fun to make as well, so that was my present for her ^^ I wanted her to eat some last night even though it wouldn't be her birthday until the next day (today). She really likes it!
She's going to Longhorn tonight to get her free sundae lol

My cake had a lot of alterations
1. We don't own a round cake pan, only and meatloaf pan and a 9x13 (idk if you can use a meatloaf pan for a cake or not. Ig if you have a container to put it in after dumping it to put icing all around it???) My middle brother (i have three older ones) is a sous chef and he LOVES to cook and bake. He works at this fancy bbq and bar place called Home Team BBQ and it's soooo good, he adds on new desserts and stuff to their specials menu (i bought a shirt from there the other day 🫠) and he went the the culinary school up in new york in 2017 after graduating and he took all of our cake pans and containers with him 😭 so i just used a 9x13
2. There's only bluberries on top. We planned on using strawberries, blueberries and raspberries on top, but the only ones we had that weren't in the frozen bags were blueberries. I foudn out the hard way that that wasnt going to work 😭 the frozen fruit stuck together so i ditched the steawberries bc they were in a bag mixed with pineapple and used the raspberries to make a syrup. And i improvised with the blueberries since it'd be the only fruit on top. I couldn't really do anything fancy w them, so i made a border and a 57
3. The original cake had no syrup

Also, side note, my brother can make the best pound cake 💯 people always ask if they can buy one if he'd make it for them

It sounds good. A meatloaf pan is usually not a great idea as a substitute for a cake pan because the cake would be taller, and that would be a big issue in terms of having it bake through. The extra height would make the middle uncooked unless you know how to alter the temp and time to cook it fully through without making it super dry on the outside. So it’s good you didn’t go with that. Frozen berries often don’t make great garnish, unless you prepare them before to give them time to dry out and drain the excess liquid. Otherwise they leak all over the top. But the raspberry syrup is a great alternative idea. Sounds tasty overall

They kinda stuck together in chunks so i decided not to 😭
