some rps fans really need to start actually interacting with actual people with the way they fetishize gay people
like wdym "for real gay"? gay people only exist in fiction? their only personality trait is being gay and they're only paid attention to in relation to their sexuality? "lyx made me gay" yet some of them are comfortable being so openly homophobic
and you wonder why fans start gatekeeping (x)
worse was the entire leslie cheung thing that happened: reducing actual people to non-existent "proof" of a ship being real and harassing daffy in his comments is just wrong on so many levels
yes, leslie was a trailblazer and super respected, but the media vilification after he came out as bi was also awful, iirc jean paul gauthier decided to stop working with asian artists after the backlash over his tour outfits
(more of a sidenote, but I think fans are severely underestimating leslie's korean popularity too, last I heard he was still the chinese artist with the second most fancafe members)
