I never noticed that this flag has rotational symmetry (1 Viewer)

If you take the flag of Micronesia, you can rotate it 180 degrees and it’ll stay the same. I didn’t notice it before, I never looked closely so I just thought all the stars faced the same way.

It surprised me when i found tat out about this flag, 1 of top 2 flags everyone knows-i thought it was perfectly symmetric: ie 4 quadrant symmetry; it perfectly symmetric whichever way u rotate or reverse/mirror it horizontally or vertically.Alas I found out it wasn't n my brain had only tricked me thinking so. Can u guess which I'm talking about?

Some time ago when I edited the welsh dragon onto the UK flag, I noticed that the red diagonal cross wasn’t perfectly even

I always believed it was perfectly symmetrical without thinking abt it, until just a few weeks/a month ago when either after reading yr thread about a flag or watching a youtube video(I forgot how I dived into this particular rabbit hole, maybe it was sthg else) I read about how English, Scottish, Welsh & Irish national flags combined into one: England n Scitland were no issues but Irish n Welsh had the priority issue which would hv priority. Somehow it was decided the same way when Hollywood movies non-priority on title/stars in a opening starring few seconds: left but lower n right but higher means 2 stars can't get to complain the other got top billing(doesn't work in movie posters tho).

so either Welsh got top right or bottom left and vice versa. I'm not sure but I think no other national or other flag has same issue.unless others combined.

It seems that the tilt is to equally represent Scotland and Ireland/North Ireland equally. The Welsh flag is actually not represented on the Union Jack because when the Union Jack was made, Wales was considered part of England. Maryland is a bit similar because their flag looks at first like it might be able to be rotated or flipped, but if you try that the colors of the checkered patterns get swapped between the quadrants. I might make a thread about flags that look like they might be able to be transformed but actually can’t
