I went to an escape room and one puzzle was interesting to me. The idea was there was a message and we needed to pick up on 3 numbers in an audio message for a lock. 2 of the numbers were picked up quickly (they were things like “5 weeks ago, we did x”). But the last number was really hard to pick up, it was the number one. I realized after that unlike the numbers 5 and 8, my mind wasn’t processing one as a number in the same way, but rather a concept. I’m sure there’s a linguistic explanation for it, but idk it yet. It just made me think a bit when I realized it

It is kind of different yeah. I also think that 1 in that context can be missed as a number because it’s often used in cases that people don’t directly connect with math as much. Like saying “one would need baking knowledge to make a cake”,
