It was about the next NCT Taeil situation. To sum it up, they said it needs to be a wake up call to the kpop industry, because Taeils situation showed that we don’t actually know idols, and only know the face they put on. I don’t have an issue with the idea that it’s best for fans and whatnot to keep in mind that there can always be a nasty side to idols. What I take exception to is the idea that Taeils case needs to be the catalyst that makes kpop fans realize they don’t know their favs. Was JJY not enough? Or Seungri? Or the countless DUIs? Or the AOA Mina and Jimin thing? Or Choi Jonghoon? Or the countless other events where idols showed their ugly side? And it just confuses me more because while the evidence points to Taeil doing something pretty bad, we still don’t know what. And idk if it’s just me, but saying something like Tw:sexual assult“A decently famous kpop idol went to jail after gang raping someone Sounds more impactful and memorable than “an well known idol committed a sex crime of some kind”. It just feels to me like if you know about the first one and that didn’t make you realize the kpop idols put on a face, then idk how Taeils is supposed to.

I feel like many kpop fans forget that we truly don’t know idols until a situation like this becomes a “wake up call”. And then they will forget again until the next big case happens.
