I still don’t understand the argument: “But you can’t understand it.” (1 Viewer)

I’m not mentioning who specifically but as my family was setting up some of our Christmas decorations today I had Miracles in December playing on my phone and the person said:
“How do you enjoy this music? You don’t understand it.”
Tbh I try not to even answer that when someone asks because even though people ask it they usually don’t try to understand your POV (at least from my personal experiences they don’t). But basically this is how it went:
Me: “It’s the same as any other music, you enjoy the sound whether you understand the language or not.”
The person: “But you don’t understand it. I could never listen to music I don’t understand.”
Me: “You listen to the Lilo and Stitch soundtrack, not every song in that is in English.”
The person: “But I was told years ago by ______ what it’s saying.”
Me: “But you don’t know what they’re saying anymore, so technically you don’t know what they’re saying.”
The person: “But I used to.”

What’s the difference?
Just lemme enjoy my music in peace please, It’s not that big of a deal that I listen to non English music. And how dare you interrupt Miracles in December.

You can listen to it, just in a different to english track.

you hear with the vocals, the insturmentals, the language.

I remember being told this by my classmates, when I went to 9th grade and 10th grade.
And ironically, they seemed to like "Gangnam Style"... but they were still being like "Why do you listen to Korean music, when you don't understand it?"...

But heck, I used to really like Westlife's "My Love" before I could understand English.

If a foreign song gives you vibes that you enjoy, then enjoy it. Don't let anyone try to discourage your music preference.

For me, when I first heard GTA IV's music in teaser trailers, later on found out it was Russian rapper Seryoga's 'King Ring' and 'Liberty City: The Invasion', I loved them because it was hip hop and made me more excited for the game's release.
The music made the game memorable for me and IV became my favorite out of the franchise.
I have the first 30 seconds of 'King Ring' as my ringtone as well.
