Me when I stubbed my toe: “oh no! Oh no! Woe is me! I’m dying! I won’t be able to walk for a week!”

Me when I broke my foot: “oh well it hurts a tiny bit, but barely. I can still walk, just with a limp. I think it’s a super minor injury that’ll heal in a couple days and I’m sure I’ll be able to compete at the competition that I have in 2 days. Everything is fine.”

Yeah, prioties. I’m not like that anymore. Now that I don’t get injured often anymore I’m just always dramatic about minor things

maybe it's like a coping mechanism that for major issues one wants to reassure oneself that one is fine and to not worry
whereas for minor things we know (at least maybe subconsciously) that we're going to be ok
