any idol is in deep risk of becoming permanently paralyzed nowadays. idols have to go on continuous tours with little rest and are constantly forced to learn genuinely dangerous choreography that'll definitely harm them in the years ahead. I know kpop has had its fair share of hard dances but the difference with those dances if that they were very challenging and difficult to pull off, but they still felt great doing them as your hard work from taking weeks or even months learning that single dance would be satisfying. however, 4th gen kpop idols are executing some genuinely dangerous choreography that constantly of rapid head banging, aggressive floor drops (on concrete mind you) and dangerous knee slams. they're doing all of this because it looks good on vertical screens for tiktok's. on top of this, we have these idols who are minors executing these moves, all the while having a weak and staggering thin body doesn't help. when idols dance on these stages, they have NO cushioning. they are as hard as a rock and you can imagine slamming your feet hard on these surfaces or dropping on your knees too. it's so painful and i feel like you can see idols visibly in pain when they do this. On the topic of stages, they're covered in confetti which is known to be slippery on stage, man this is getting worse. it also seems like idols aren't given enough time to rest either? it's like companies are feeding their idols painkillers and calling it a day. which doesn't help anyone's case as painkillers could do so much. you aren't supposed to give someone painkillers for having a fractured disc, that requires literal medical attention, not something out of your medicine cabinet. An example of a group who has dealt with this is riize. Despite being under sm entertainment, they are a performance heavy group. in their song "siren" it's nothing but full of explosive jumping, rapid floor drops, and highly aggressive movements which that consists of neck isolations and shoulder isolations. another example is from a respected veteran group that's known for their flawless synchronization; Seventeen had its members face some injuries over this kind of choreography. like jeonghan suffering from a major elbow injury, seungcheol suffering from a torn acl that exempted him from his military service, and minghao suffering from a serious collarbone fracture. a more alarming example is eunchae from le sserafim who was forced to do an suggestive and dangerous dance when she was 15 years old at the time. in their debut track "fearless" the choreography required all of the members to physically lay flat on their stomachs on a hard surface whilst slapping the hard stage floor using their fists and hips in a loop. there are many more examples but you get it right? it's very dangerous that this keeps happening. all of this just for some stupid tiktok moment, idols shouldn't have to risk their bodies just for someone to scroll on tik tok, see how well it looks in front of a camera lens, and then scrolls right past them. i'm telling you, we're going to end up with these idols having permanently career ending injuries and it won't even be fun anymore. god i despise tiktok so fucking much, it's ruining what made kpop fun for a lot of people. this is coming from someone who wasn't big on kpop dances to begin with, but i always appreciate the effort and time it goes into choreographing dances for groups. now, said groups have dances that are literally life altering

you know, there's a difference between the show must go on and the show mustn't go on. in these cases, there's show mustn't go on. i remember watching a clip of gfriend members performing a song during a rainy day and the members kept slipping on stage. If you compare that to what these idols are doing now, it isn't so bad. i mean, gfriend were praised for their resistance and i don't the members were severely hurt, but i brought them up as a example to prove my point.

on the vocal side of things, it's no better. On top of most newer idols lacking in basic vocal skills and are expected to hit high notes they weren't trained to do, idols are getting their vocal cords fucked up. What do you think it's going to happen when an untrained idol belts a dangerous high note? they are going to be bleeding from their mouth. we don't want to see that but it's going to happen soon if these companies don't take the initiative have their idols fully recover
