People will bring up SISTAR but they were only known for being great on MelOn and not anywhere else. The never had the global popularity or it girl like IVE does. With HYBE's money and power, IVE + NewJeans + LESEFFERAFIM could literally dominate all of 4th and even 5th gen and some of 6th gen GGs

Same, it was all fun and games until they started holding even more power than SM and YG. people say small agencies' groups are starting to succeed nowadays but if anything, these are really new stans. Way more groups from small agencies were able to get hits and hit big in 2nd generation. Just look at MelOn's top 10 right now, it's dominated by big name agencies aside from IVE.

This argument doesn't make sense considering negotiations went on for a while before Hybe decided to cut them off so they clearly wanted Gfriend which as well as the fact they're being promoted a lot under their companies now shows Gfriend is profitable.

GFriend wanted more than HYBE thought they were worth, simple
