I took my mother to the doctor today. The doctor's office has 2 kinds of chairs. Normal and chairs for big people. I'm about 230ish lbs and there's about 4 to 6 inches on either side of me when I sit in the big chairs. I happen to be sitting in a big chair when lady walked in using a cain. She's easily pushing 400 lbs +. I stood up and offered her my chair because all the other big chairs were full. She said "You don't think I can fit in a normal chair? Fuck you." Because I'm an ass and now mad, I said "no" and sat back down. She stuffed herself in a normal chair with her hips sticking out, under the arm rests, by like 4 inches on both sides. When they called her name she had to hold the chair down so it wouldn't come up with her when she stood. My mother said I coulds be been nicer. That's what I get for trying to be polite.

Most of the time I let people do their things - until I realize they really need help or until they ask for help.

There are people with weight problems but the real problem is their distorted self-image. Those people don't want to hear that they need an oversized chair. Or maybe that lady got mobbed in the past and now she interpretes every statement about her weight (especially from a stranger) as an insult:

"He offered me this oversized chair -> he thinks I'm fat -> he thinks I'm ugly!"

The brain can be a bitch.

Sometimes I fail but I try not to let these miserable people get under my skin. I just assume they are having a bad day/hard life or just dislike being themselves.

I can understand them, it gives them a small amount of power and a sense of control in societies that are generally built/structured and powered by systems that are not human focused but centered around things such as consumption, profit, wealth etc.

They are to be pitied and if you have the energy treat them with the kindness, respect, humility, compassion and dignity that all living things deserve.

You, me everyone else is mortal. When other people are mean it can hurt at the time, but in the end it's pretty meaningless what these people think. We will all turn to dust and are all forgotten in time. I'm stuck with myself for pretty much all of that existence so I try to be the type of person that I can be accepting or perhaps proud of. If I say something that hurts another person and regret it that pain in the long run is much deeper than the mean things another person could say.
