Your dog loves you, but as it happens they do spend time in other rooms and not by your side constantly. Unless you’re cooking. Then they’re glued to your side until something drops

he would ignore me unless food was involved or it was bedtime.
He had every option but he still chose my bed

My second dog was similar. She usually ignored me unless I was cooking in the kitchen; then, she'd always be under my feet! But then, she wasn't the happiest of dogs, either - I think she was only happy when there was food involved and during walks.
