This is that fanfic I mentioned writing in this thread. This is my first time writing about TXT, so if any canons seem out of character, that's why. lol

Chapter 1 synopsis: Abby Jacobs and her brother Colton arrive in Pearland, Texas, to see their parents and so Abby can go to TXT's upcoming concert in Houston.

Chapter 1
“Pearland, 50 miles,” read the road sign flying over my brother Colton’s car as he zoomed past. We were taking our families to Pearland, Texas, to see my parents; I’m single with eleven-month-old twin daughters, and Colton is the father figure for his fiancée’s three-year-old son. For me, this is also a trip to see my favorite K-pop group, TXT, in concert with an old childhood friend.
“We’re getting close, y’all!” Colton announced. “The GPS says we’ll be there in forty-five minutes.”
“Are you sure they’ll like me, though?” Mikayla asked.
“You’ll be fine, babe!” Colton reassured her. “I’m sure they’ll take a liking to Lucas, too.”
“I agree,” I said. “Just be your best self; you’ve got this!”
“You’re the best, Abby,” Mikayla commented. “Thank you.”
“Take Exit 4 on the right to Texas Route 35,” the GPS instructed a half hour later. Colton took the exit, and I grinned with the anticipation of seeing my parents for the first time in eleven months. Fifteen minutes after that, he pulled up to their house in Pearland, parking in the driveway.
Colton and I each took a twin as we walked up to the door and entered the house. The drapes on the living room bay window were wide open, letting in plenty of sunshine. Mom was in the kitchen serving up what smelled like fried chicken, and Dad was setting the table.
“Hello!” I called out.
“Abigail, Colton!” Mom greeted as she approached in her grease-stained apron. “How are you? We haven’t seen y’all in a hot minute!”
“I’m good,” I said as Mom gave Colton a hug as well.
“Memaw!” Charlotte exclaimed, reaching towards Mom.
Mom took Charlotte in her arms and said, “And Harper, you’ve grown so much since I saw you last!”
“That’s Charlotte,” I corrected.
“Oh, yeah – she’s the one with the angel’s kiss on her left wrist.”
“Colton, who are these two?” Dad asked. He gestured towards Mikayla and Lucas to indicate whom he was referring to.
“These are my girlfriend Mikayla and her son Lucas,” Colton said, resting an arm on Mikayla’s shoulders. “Y’all, these are my parents.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet y’all,” Dad said as he shook Mikayla’s hand. Then, he bent down to talk to Lucas. “How old are you, buddy?”
“Lucas, say ‘three’!” Mikayla urged.
Lucas simply held up three fingers and then hid behind Mikayla’s legs.
“He has stranger-danger syndrome,” Mikayla explained. “He’s still getting used to Caleb. I’m turning 20 in two weeks, by the way.”
“Bless his heart,” Mom commented. “So, dinner’s all ready, if y’all want to eat right now.”
“I’m starving,” I agreed as we all followed Mom and Dad into the kitchen and sat at the dining table.
“How did you and Caleb meet?” Dad wanted to know after we said grace and started eating.
“I was her cashier at the toy store,” Colton replied. “She had come up to buy Lucas a new trike for his birthday.”
“And you had Lucas when you were…” Dad prompted.
“Sixteen,” Mikayla finished.
Mom and Dad looked at each other in shock. “Well, I hope you were able to finish high school,” Mom remarked.
“Mom, please,” Colton scolded. “She was in fact able to graduate; she was homeschooled after she got pregnant.”
“Y-yeah… I was,” Mikayla added nervously.
“And what about poor Lucas?” Mom asked.
“Susan!” Dad shouted. “Why are you being so judgmental tonight?”
“He was placed with Mikayla’s grandmother until she was ready to raise him,” I defended.
Mom took a deep breath and relaxed herself. “Okay, I’m sorry,” she said to Mikayla. “I can be pretty judgmental at times. I hope I didn’t scare you out of marrying our son.”
“Nah, you didn’t,” Mikayla admitted. “My parents treated me the same way until Lucas was born. Thanks for standing up for me, y’all.”
“No problem,” Colton and I chorused.
The rest of the meal was spent getting to know Mikayla and Lucas, and the conversation continued in the living room afterwards. The next thing I knew, it was almost eight, time for the kids to go to bed.
“It was nice meeting you, Mikayla,” Mom said before we left. “Welcome to the family!”
“Thanks, Mrs. Jacobs,” Mikayla returned.
“Call me Susan, honey. There’s a pullout couch in the family room Lucas can sleep in. And Abigail, we made you a hotel reservation.”
I rolled my eyes. “Mom, it’s fine – the girls and I will sleep in my room.”
“But we don’t have a crib, let alone two,” Dad protested. “Please stay at the hotel.”
“But my car is the only one we brought.”
“Colton can use my car,” Mom said. “We insist, Abigail.”
That was when I realized they were right, and I was just spewing out excuses. “Okay, I guess I see your point. Girls, wave bye-bye!”
Harper did her little wave, and Charlotte repeated “bye-bye” to Mom and Dad.
“Goodnight, dearies,” Mom said, giving hugs to the three of us.
