So you've probably all heard the song by now, and if you haven't just go read the lyrics and return to my thread.
Many people have concluded that the song is about a
WLW relationship. And while that interpretation is valid (almost all interpretations are considering SY
said the song can mean many different things) I'd like to propose another possible meaning. To me, the lyrics also allude to a toxic relationship.

The relationship is described as following a confused, trapped partner being turned into a worse person because of this partner. I also believe physical abuse is littered in because of Yuqi's first pre-chorus parts.
"Like this and like that, play me around like a toy."
"Destroy my rationality and come in as you wish"

The abuser in question is using gaslighting and coercion in order to get what they want from her.

Miyeon's pre-chorus parts tie into my whole general theory of an abusive relationship
"As it is dangerous, I want to have it"
'I want to hold onto it even for the pain"

She knows staying with this horrible person will only bring her more burdens, but
she continues to stay because she feels bound at this point

Then the chorus itself. It appears to be positive, but truly isn't. Because the girls say that
"She took me to the sky" and "Showed me all the stars" but this is because they've been so twisted and manipulated
that they use positive memories with their abusive partner as a rationalization for what they've done

But there is an ugly duckling within all of this. Soojin's lines.
"Baby, baby, as if you'll rush in. Come in."
"Make me, as if you're losing your mind, like it"
This is because Soojin's lines are not from the perspective of the victim, but rather the abuser now.
They describe demanding favors from the other in a stern manner, despite her sweet delivery of the words.
But that's exactly how it really would go.

Anyways, that is all for this post. I hope you find my interpretation of the song interesting.

I haven’t read the lyrics but I’m just curious, if it is about a toxic relationship, does that mean it can’t be wlw? It seems like people so far are thinking it’s one or the other but I wonder if it could be both. Who knows, I wouldn’t expect it to be both necessarily but I’m curious if something in the lyrics divides it into being one or the other.
