Punchline: It's a reader survey, so keep that in mind that it's going to be skewed toward Billboard News readers who noticed the survey and responded to it.

Interesting snippets:
  • 82% of respondents listen to K-pop seven days a week.
  • While 72% of K-pop fans regularly listen to pop music, just 19% are frequent listeners of Latin music and 15% are regular country music listeners.
  • 36% of respondents have been K-pop fans for five or more years. Nearly half (46%) have followed K-pop for two to five years and 19% have been K-pop fans for fewer than two years.
  • For all their enthusiasm, K-pop fans are more likely to listen to and buy music than attend concerts. Just 47% of respondents said they had not been to a K-pop concert in the previous year, with the lack of nearby performances and cost of tickets being the two most common explanations.

Page 6-7 of the full report basically confirms why Kpop agencies ignore controversies that are western only. More than half the respondents either don't spend money or spend about the cost of <4 albums per year.

And page 14-15 highlights what we've talked about here before: people WOULD go to a Kpop concert, if only they actually came near where people lived. And Kpop fans live all across the States, not just in San Francisco and New York. Hopefully some of the touring companies take note of that and try to have more concerts spread out. If I have to spend $500 for going to a concert -- including travel, accommodations, etc. -- then it has to be just my absolute utmost faves. But if I can spend $40 and pop over after dinner at my home, I'd go see groups I was only sort of into.

The demographics bit is interesting

The gender ratio is crazy
Makes you wonder how much of that is a commentary on western kpop fans vs. how much of that just aligns with Billboard's readership audience.

Yeah that would be great cause kpop groups rarely come to my state, but if they did I would probably have a chance
