How do you feel about it?
I just finished episode 6 so far.
The animated series was my bread and butter as a kid and Korra came out when I was in high school so the series raised me and it’s how I mastered water bending. :) I’m kidding.
I really enjoy the live action so far. Is it perfect? No >.> the cg world is amazing and I would watch it again.
What I like so far…
Omashu is so beautiful. The landscapes and cities they recreated makes me want to go there so badly. x.x but it's not real.
Just imagine what Korra’s world would look like in a live action too.
Out of all the bending, the water bending was done the best imo. Then fire > air = Earth
There are so many small iconic moments that they kept in like Aang riding on an air sphere and then crashing into something. Bumi and Aang riding the Omashu delivery chutes and seeing a dust cloud when they crash. The best tho, CABBAGE GUY!!! WE STAN THE CABBAGE GUY!!!
Zuko and Katara were portrayed the best. Doesn’t mean everyone else sucked. It’s just these two actors really did their characters the best. Zuko constantly had the look of turmoil on his face. Uncle Iroh is adorable just like in the anime. He's an old, wise, tea-loving adorable man.

What I was disappointed with...
some of the female characters could have been done better. I know, casting an actor for an animated series does not mean they will look the same. It's crazy to expect that 100%. I do like how the actress for Azula portrayed her and I tried not to let it interfere with my thoughts, but the her face looked too nice to be Azula. Azula always had the mean girl look and the live action actress comes off very nice and sweet.
June, Mai, and Ty Lee looked like they were cosplayers. That's the best I can put it. The wigs could have been better for sure. I haven't gotten to Princess Yue but I already saw stills of her. To compare, the first is Princess Yue in the 2010 live action movie (not defending this movie, still hate it).
And this is Princess Yue in the 2024 series. It's not bad, but it could have been better.
And the biggest disappointment so far was Suki and Sokka during the Kyoshi episode. I'm upset with how they used Suki's character just for romance.
I already ranted about this so I'm just gonna copy and paste.
Ep 2 is on Kyoshi. One of my fav parts in the original. They never put Sokka in the Kyoshi warrior attire and paint. And it's not just that but the whole character growth Sokka goes through learning from Suki never happens. Sokka kinda comes off as an asshole (originally, not in live action) because he's always been like, "fighting isnt for girls blah blah blah" and when he meets the Kyoshi warriors he gets humbled and is like, "I would be honored to learn from you." THIS didn't happen in the live action. And its a bummer because it's his best moment developing his character. Sokka does learn how to fight from Suki but that humbling never happens. They just turned it into them being lovesick for each other and mainly had Suki pursuing Sokka. I know not everything can be perfect, but I feel like that was an important moment for the audience to learn gender stereotypes are stupid.
Toph isn't in this season, so I hope there is a season 2.
If you want 100% accuracy, don't watch. If you want nostalgic feels, the show is for you. They did a good job, just don't walk into it thinking it's gonna be a copy and paste.
