Is there a close friend or relative that you feel awkward or uncomfortable around? (1 Viewer)

I was discussing this with my mom the other day and I wanted to know if anyone felt the same way. We were talking about my dad since he and I don’t have much of a relationship and I told her I feel awkward around him now since we hardly ever see each other and our conversations don’t go well at all, and I just feel a bit uncomfortable with it.

Does anyone else feel this way about a friend or family member?

I have many like this. One of my uncle's wife. They live close so I see them a lot and and I'm close with my cousins, their kids. But I cannot hold a convo if it's just my aunt and I. It's so awkward.

One of my uncles. I'm pretty sure he's just super awkward around women but most of our family is women so it makes it hard to hold a conversation with him. But we also think he's starting to get dementia which is making it worse-sadly.

Yes, I immediately think of someone that I more spend time with because I almost feel obligated to. We do not share the same values and philosophies and they get offended by too many things so it it better to have that awkward relationship.

the entirety of my dad's side and just a few on mom's side, but for her side, those people we don't talk to or interact with anymore so it's basically nobody on my mom's side, and my oldest brother because he refuses to talk to our parents and with that, he's cut off contact with his siblings so when we do see him (which is very rare), it's really awkward

Mostly my aunts and uncles from my mom's side who live in the Dominican Republic.

I would also say my entire father's side of the family since I haven't talked to them ever since my father died back in 2015 (well I haven't spoken to my dad a lot even prior to his death).

It's that awkwardness and also a distance sort of thing imo

I have misophonia and my uncle is by far the loudest person I've ever met. Not a bad person but I whenever I'm around him it triggers my fight or flight

Pretty much almost everyone on my bio dad side of the family.

not really on my family side since we pretty much all get along
