I was thinking of watching Friends With Benefits (starring Justin Timberlake) bc it occurred to me that (1) I've never seen JT acting before and (2) it's a romcom so it would be the perfect movie combo, but I heard a long time ago that they got the plot from another movie... but I really want to see it bc Harry Styles doesn't want me to see him act, so JT is the next best thing. lol

so, ig my question is, would that be a no-go for you (reviewers comparing the movie to another) or would you just watch it anyway?

A lot of media these days is just reskinned versions of basic story structures. It's one thing if it's literally copy/paste, which is not okay, but I don't think that particular movie was alleged to be. It's been a while.

I’d only mind if they were blatantly lying about where the idea is from and saying it’s completely their idea and doing. But if they arent (which is usually the case) I don’t see an issue. Just as long as there’s no plagarism.

given how much i love movies, i'd probably end up watching both the one i intended to watch and the one it allegedly copied to check which one i enjoy more. and if the plot was taken from a movie i already love, it would only make me watch it more lol
