Everyone likes to see an empowered woman comfortable with her own body but not at the expense of another culture. Lisa has apologized in the past about her own appropriation but not Jennie afaik. She’s a Korean woman earning multi millions thanks in part to taking so much from black culture. Yet while she does this there are black women who aren’t earning a penny from it despite it being their own culture. She’s not reading the room.

not talking about this particular thing, but lisa also has done it a lot of times and honestly she doesn’t seem to be changing. wearing braids in ktl, then in money again. having a hindu god on the ground (which may have been the producer’s fault but she’s thai and hinduism is highly influential there) and then again wearing a jacket with hindu gods on it a year later. jennie too has her own appropriations but honestly i dont think they frankly care.

Yeah that could be true. They keep earning money and people keep buying tickets lol. At some point a lot of people have to take the initiative and do something about that once the artists and label start ignoring.

Not that it makes much difference, but that’s a bit of a misconception. She wore braids in KTL (2019), and said nothing. But the second time she wore them in Money (2021) she apologised then. Not that it excuses anything and she’s still very much in the wrong but just thought I’d mention it 🤷

we didn't mention eras, she apologized yet still bp is doing ca. at the very least we know that lisa is now aware, it is not her fault for the other members, but no one intervened and was like "this isn't a good idea"? it's either, lisa didn't care enough to let them know, or they didn't care enough to listen.

For decades white people have been "cool" with black culture as long as they could see it from the comfort of a screen while at the same time redlining black people from living near them. So they take entertainment value from black culture but don't give actual respect and dignity to the people who made that culture. And now non-black entertainers appropriated black culture and are entertaining white people with it, so black people aren't even earning from what they created.

I never knew that dance move was considered black culture. I thought it was just created by black people.
