It's so uncomfortable to sit with the feeling of having upset other people.let them be pissy
I've always said you cannot control other people but you can control your reactions to it
That's so obnoxious! Who takes "no response" as "they definitely are agreeing to do this."And the fact that it’s a favorYears ago my sister was coming to visit and remembered at 2 AM the day of that she also had a dentist appointment in the area. My mom was picking her up from the airport and told her the she couldn’t drive my sister unless she went early with my mom, so she texted me asking if I could, but I didn’t answer because I was asleep (though usually I was awake at that time). My sister interpreted me not responding as confirmation that I could, which was wrong because I had a doctors appointment that same morning (they were both early morning appointments). It wasn’t so much her being that pissy for me not responding (though she kinda was), but it was definitely entitlement and super poor planning on her part.
For sure. If it was something smaller, like a $10 purchase, that’s one thing. But even if it can be absorbed, $321 isn’t exactly pennies. I’d have also wanted the money up front for thatThat's so obnoxious! Who takes "no response" as "they definitely are agreeing to do this."
I think maybe that's why I'm annoyed. The entitlement that I'd just drop everything to be immediately available for this favor. I did respond, and my uncle wanted me to buy something off eBay for him, since he didn't want to make an account, and it's $321. I asked for the funds for it up-front, and was told "I'd rather pay you cash dear." Well, I'd rather not be out $321 for some undetermined point of time.I mean, I probably could absorb it, but I shouldn't have to!
but are those people not making you feel that way? It's so uncomfortable to sit with the feeling of having upset other people.
I'm like "why do I feel like a giant jerk right now?"![]()
oops meant to put this in my Voice threadI didn't like him, either
I will try to remind my brain that he's an adult who can manage his own emotions. Thanks for listening to me.but are those people not making you feel that way?
why should they get to dictate how you live or feel?
people pleasing is a very "problematic" behaviour (maybe the right phrase is not problematic but I cannot think of the word right now lol)
ever heard the phrase - why set yourself on fire so others are warm?
come back tomorrow for more therapy with selfie!!!I will try to remind my brain that he's an adult who can manage his own emotions. Thanks for listening to me.![]()
I will be prepared!!come back tomorrow for more therapy with selfie!!!
tomorrow we focus on your murder dolls and what they say about your psyche
this doctor is a nxde only practice!!! no signage hereI will be prepared!!
I would say we could get you a "the doctor is IN" sign, but that might be too much decor for you!
I get what you’re trying to say, but there are definitely ways to at least “strongly suggest” what others do. Especially if ethics isn’t your fortelet them be pissy

I do understand what you are saying or maybe I do lolI get what you’re trying to say, but there are definitely ways to at least “strongly suggest” what others do. Especially if ethics isn’t your forteNot that relevant to this specific thread, but it exists
Some forms of strongly suggest are ethical, I agree. But some of the most convincing types are not, like having a gun pointed at youI do understand what you are saying or maybe I do lol
are you implying coercion? or threats backed up by force? or blackmail?
because there are some forms of strongly suggest which I believe are completely ethical
whilst I agree personally there is an interesting question as to whether the use of force is ethicalSome forms of strongly suggest are ethical, I agree. But some of the most convincing types are not, like having a gun pointed at you
I think that ethics isn’t only about the method, but also the reason (and just subjective). It’s just that some methods (like threatening someone with a gun) don’t lend themselves as nicely to ethical acts as some other methods may (though I’m not saying that they don’t exist at all). At least when it comes to general everyday life of the average citizen, because if the same question is applied to governments that can be massively different (though there are also many unethical government acts that involve pointing a gun at someone). All the other advantages you mentioned (beauty, height, ect) also have all those nuances too. But if you’re robbing a bank, while you might get some advantage because of height, usually the workers will find guns pointed at them more convincing to give up than you being tall. Though again, you can definitely use height to your advantage in unethical ways too. But often it’s not able to play as big of a role as other methods in those contexts .whilst I agree personally there is an interesting question as to whether the use of force is ethical
hypothetically if I'm stronger than someone can I use that to my advantage - is it not "ethical" to do that?
same with what if I was smarter than someone...
what if I was prettier than someone
etc
we each have advantages and disadvantages in life - and most of us will try to use those advantages to gain an advantage in life so to speak - if I'm tall maybe I play basketball - if I'm fast maybe I go into running etc
the question is then - is it unethical to use those (or any) advantages not just generally in society but against certain people or a group of people...
