In terms of impact to the genre, not lifestyle obviously.
In the early 90s grunge bands used to dominate American music but then Tupac and Biggie came and changed the public’s musical taste. No grunge bands of mainstream level have been heard of ever since.
In the early 20’s “noise music” dominated kpop but then IVE and NewJeans debuted with early 2000s era concept and sound (post-internet pre-smartphone). Now the Korean public has had enough of noise music (Girls, Sneakers, Don’t mess with my mascara) and fully embracing the shift in the kpop musical landscape. By next year you won’t hear any “noise” except from the most nugu of nugus.
