its NEVER occurred to me but moles are rodents and squirrels are rodents and chinchillas are rodents i just assumed for some reason that only rats and mice were rodents

update: i did a bit more research and apparently porcupine is a rodent but a hedgehog isnt??? this does not make sense

I was surprised when I learned just how many types of rodents there were too

basically all animals that has this prominent incisors and gnaw on their food are rodents
hedgehogs don’t have this kind of incisors and eat insects

nope! they used to be categorized as rodents, but they belomg to lagomorphs
