Representative Lee Jae-myung of the MDP also criticized the ROK-Japan summit meeting between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on 17 July, saying, "It was like a surrender ceremony in which we paid tribute to Japan and pleaded for reconciliation."
Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Council in the National Assembly this morning, Lee said, "The Yoon Seok-yeol regime has finally chosen to become a Japanese agent."
He said, "Japan has offered no apology or remorse for the issue of forced mobilization, which is the biggest pending issue, and there is not even a mention of Japan's countermeasures that our government professed," adding, "Our people's lament that they have traded national pride, victims' human rights, and historical justice for a bowl of omelet rice does not seem wrong."
Regarding President Yun's interview with the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper, he said, "The president was stunned that he would tolerate Japan's military greatness and the neutralization of the peace constitution, saying that 'there is no claim for planning rights (from Japanese companies),'" and lashed out, saying, "At this point, the regime is more of a no-brainer than a pro-Japan."

On his Facebook page, Chairman Yi also announced a rally to condemn the meeting in front of Seoul City Hall on 18 June, saying, "Yesterday's ROK-Japan summit was the most shameful moment in our diplomatic history."
President Yoon Seok-yeol held a 16-minute summit meeting with Prime Minister Kishida at the Prime Minister's Residence in Tokyo, Japan, the day before (90).
At a joint press conference afterward, President Yun said, "We agreed with (Prime Minister Kishida) that the people of the two countries have suffered direct and indirect damage due to the frozen bilateral relations, and we agreed (with Prime Minister Kishida) to restore ROK-Japan relations as soon as possible."
Prime Minister Kishida also announced the restoration of "shuttle diplomacy" between South Korea and Japan, saying, "President Yun's visit to Japan will be a big step in normalizing relations between South Korea and Japan." However, with regard to the issue of Comfort Women and forced mobilization, without a direct apology, he only stated, "We have confirmed that we are inheriting the position of the previous cabinets on historical perception as a whole, including the ROK-Japan Joint Declaration (Kim Tae-chung-Obuchi Declaration) issued in October 1998."
Business groups from the two countries, including the National Federation of Businessmen of Korea and Japan's Keidanren, agreed to create a "Future Partnership Fund" to improve relations between South Korea and Japan and support the youth of the two countries. In addition, the South Korean and Japanese governments agreed to cancel the World Trade Organization (WTO) lawsuit and lift export restrictions on three key semiconductor materials such as hydrogen fluoride.

이재명 더불어민주당 대표가 17일 윤석열 대통령과 기시다 후미오 일본 총리 간 한일 정상회담을 두고 "일본에 조공 바치고 화해 간청하는 항복식 같았다"고 비판했다.
이 대표는 이날 오전 국회에서 열린 최고위원회의에서 "윤석열 정권이 결국 일본 하수인이 되는 길을 선택했다"며 이같이 말했다.
그는 "일본은 최대 현안인 강제동원 문제에 대한 사죄와 반성은 전무했고, 우리 정부가 공언했던 일본의 대응 조치는 언급조차 없었다"며 "오므라이스 한 그릇에 국가의 자존심과 피해자 인권, 역사 정의를 다 맞바꿨다는 우리 국민의 한탄 소리가 틀려 보이지 않는다"고 평가했다.
이어 윤 대통령의 요미우리 신문 인터뷰와 관련해 "대통령은 '(일본 기업에) 구상권 청구는 없다'며 눈치만 살피고, 일본의 군사대국화, 평화헌법 무력화도 용인하겠다는 데 아연실색했다"며 "이쯤되면 정권은 친일이 아닌 숭일에 가깝다"고 맹비난했다.

이 대표는 이날 자신의 페이스북에서도 "어제의 한일정상회담, 우리 외교사에서 가장 부끄러운 순간이었다"며 오는 18일 서울시청 앞에서 규탄집회를 예고하기도 했다.
윤석열 대통령은 전날(16일) 일본 도쿄 총리관저에서 기시다 총리와 약 90분간 정상회담을 가졌다.
윤 대통령은 이후 공동 기자회견에서 "그간 얼어붙은 양국 관계로 양국 국민들이 직간접적 피해를 입어왔다는 데 공감하고, 한일관계를 조속히 회복시켜 나가자는데 (기시다 총리와) 뜻을 같이했다"며 "안보, 경제, 인적·문화 교류 등 다양한 분야에서의 협력을 증진시키기 위한 논의를 더욱 가속화하기로 했다"고 밝혔다.
기시다 총리도 한일 간 '셔틀 외교' 복원을 선언하며 "윤 대통령의 일본 방문은 한일 관계의 정상화에 있어 커다란 한 걸음이 될 것"이라고 했다. 다만 위안부·강제동원 문제와 관련해서는 직접적인 사과 없이 "1998년 10월에 발표한 한일 공동선언(김대중-오부치 선언)을 포함해 역사 인식에 관한 역대 내각의 입장을 전체적으로 계승하고 있다는 점을 확인했다"고만 밝혔다.
한국 전경련(전국경제인연합회)과 일본 게이단렌 등 양국 재계 단체는 한일관계 개선과 양국 청년 지원을 위한 '미래 파트너십 기금' 창설에 합의했다. 또한 한일 정부는 각각 세계무역기구(WTO) 제소 취소와 불화수소 등 반도체 핵심 소재 3개 품목의 수출규제 해제에 합의했다.
