Korean Beauty Standards and Body Image (1 Viewer)

Do you think you are influenced by korean beauty standards and affected in your body image?
The beauty standard is very different from where I live and personally, I have a completely different body type. I just can't wear some of the pretty korean fashion. I can't help but compare and it makes me feel kinda self-conscious.
What are your experiences?

one way getting to know korean beauty standart that was positive for me was finding that even if i dont really fit the beauty standart where i live i am kinda in korean beauty standart i used to be really self concious for not looking like giga chad meme

i still hate the way i look but at least i am little closer to asian beauty standart

Surprised there are so many that say that they aren't affected personally by Korean beauty standards. Maybe it's because I'm also East Asian and so it hits closer to home for me but I do have moments where my body image is affected by Korean beauty standards. I have always had body image issues though so getting into Korean culture just added another layer of pressure. I don't place that amount of pressure on anyone else though so it doesn't affect how I view others just myself

Interestingly, it's the same with me. I wouldn't say I'm superficial and would never judge others on their appearance or tell them they are not good enough. But the way I feel about myself is different. And of course- as rationality was mentioned above- that is not a rational decision, but a feeling.

I think it must be even harder living in asia since the collectivistic culture has a very specific standard of beauty, whereas in individualistic cultures a more broad spectrum of beauty is accepted.
Maybe it is a confidence-thing. Many answered that they don't feel affected, I wonder if those people would say they have high level of confidence and identity or are (relatively) comfortable with their body? Or do they simply not compare themselves to others? :3

Secondly, no. I'm currently in Korea right now and I haven't felt insecure about my appearance whatsoever. Everyone has a different body-type and that's just the way it is. There's no need to change yourself to fit into the norms of society. Change yourself because you're doing it for YOU and no one else -
that is, if you choose to do so. We have a toxic habit of comparing ourselves to others and the only real way to fix that is to start loving yourself.

I'm kinda affected by korean beauty standards. But it's not just the korean beauty standards. That's probably because my confidence isn't that great lmao. I always tend to look at others and be like: I wish I had that, or looked like that. But I'm definitely not the only one. There are a lot of people who struggle like that. Especially nowadays with all the social media.
I should probably just love my self more

Standards on beauty I don't really take seriously
It's all a stereotyped image and quite shallow as well.

I can be beautiful my own way.

I do not need a country to tell me how to feel about my body.
