I was doing a thing where you get an English word and have to say the word in the language you’re learning (Spanish for me). A super super easy word showed up, hello.

I immediately said 안녕 (annyeong).

And immediately I was like wtf am I doing, this is supposed to be Spanish, not Korean.

And then followed it up by saying bonjour.

The most basic words are the ones I do this with the most tbh. Probably because I can say things like “hello” or “sorry” in lots of languages, but there’s only a few where I can say something like “printer” or “stairs”.

I can relate... i speak english, korean, japanese, russain, german, ASL (if ya count that as a language), and spanish

My shameful secret is that I've been actively avoiding Japanese for years because I kept getting it mixed up with Korean. I feel like I sabotaged years of effort in learning Japanese through my refusal to expose myself to it - but Korean just took priority. This is why NiziU is the one JYPE girl group I don't actively follow. TT

Funniest part is my Japanese is still better than my Korean, so I have mixed feelings about it.

Quite so, and with the way Hiragana is syllabary while Hangul is built into syllable blocks the writing reads similar as well.

That's awesome! Wish I was exposed to more than just English as a child.
I plan to teach my future children and provide them with more opportunities than I was ever given.

I only learned them because of my job though... When i debut i want to be able to interact with ALL of my fans all around the world! (thats if HYBE lets me debut)
