In English school has two meanings as a noun: a place for education and a group of fish. These two are etymologically unrelated, despite the same spellings. But the word shoal, also meaning a group of fish, comes from the exact same Dutch root as school (of fish). And when brought over the second time to become shoal, it was the exact same meaning as school, though it’s shifted somewhat over time. But the fact that school and school are etymologically unrelated, but school and shoal are very closely related (and too close in meaning originally imo), just feels weird
