My class right now is working on a bunch of individual projects and I'm using stranded wire for the first time :haewhat:

I am no longer Day... I am a stranded wire ANTI and this is going to become my whole personality!!!

Lemme show you

solid wire is my best friend. a member of my harem, if you will... that's how much i depend on it and am used to manipulating it (wow that sounds bad, disregard the harem comment for just this one moment)

Stranded wire freaking sucks. Part of the problem is probably that I'm using 12 AWG which is a bit on the larger size but let me tell you when you use your needle nose pliers to get in there and try and curve it so you can attach it to a screw, it FLATTENS OUT and then REFUSES to go around the SCREW !!

I feel like I should mention I've been at this for an hour and a half and I'm still not done with the simplest project in the class :( obviously when you are learning a new skill you have to make mistakes, be present and be a sponge that soaks up all the info from the people around you as well as troubleshooting what works and what doesn't, but there does come a moment where your brain clouds and all you can think is "damn this wire STILL won't go on this screw I've been trying to attach for the past 15?" This is the mindset where you get stuck and then you're doing negative learning... something to learn to recognize and pause before you fall too deep.

UGH !!!! I want to be a pro at everything first try :youreintrouble:

:taeminstare: I disagree, stranded wire is better. Especially marine grade wiggle wire. :haylul: Sold is such a pain the butt to run through walls. Are you going to be an electrician!?

I will be an electrical technician when I'm done with my program

I have no clue what marine grade wiggle wire is but omg sounds SCARY

and hmmmm yeah I'm still at the beginning of my program so I haven't done any stranded wire to walls yet, honestly today was my first time wiring anything that wasn't romex spaghetti'd all over a table. I ran through conduit and used 14-2 wire - I had power come into a light, a switch up above to control the light, then a GFCI and a regular outlet in parallel. It took me the whole class but I finally was able to see the flow of electricity so I'm counting this as a win!!

I used wiggle wire when I built a lichtenberg device. It is for extremely high voltage, low amp applications. The device I built put out up to 3 amps and 5000 volts. It's very bendy which makes it fun and easy to work with. I love electricity, it's one of my three favorite things. :haylul: :excitedmarch:
