If this were any other country and a performer was shouting they love *insert a negatively received political figure rapidly hurting its citizens* I feel like it would have the same reaction.

Plus some idols do read up on news outside of their country. Siwon has liked stuff about Trump ie ig posts (well after he joined politics)

ok that's fair, i'm biased because even if i'm based in europe now my work forces me to be up to date with basically all news
so even if it's all bullshit, it still has very real effects on real people, so i find it hard to just tune out, especially as the speed of the descent is frankly very terrifying

for me, i think it's in many ways worse than trump 1.0 because he quite literally purged his circle of anyone who didn't give unconditional support so instead of plain stupidity it's the sheer disregard of the rule of law and the way his circle is just letting it happen that's terrifying to see, so while trump 1.0 was in many ways stupid, trump 2.0's overarching theme is vengeance and that, imho, is a really scary tone to set as a government

Suju somehow gets more flack for something they say and do. It is bad what they did but we need to hold other idols to the same standards, which doesn't happen.
I honestly find this a non-issue and I know that if it were any other idol, it wouldn't have been blown up like this.

I try to do so, unfortunately, I usually get attacked whenever I speak up by the group's fans.
That would be true but other groups who were at the peak of their popularity have gotten away with it whilst Suju only has a strong latam fanbase and that's it.

The fact that Belgians get slapped with Leopold the 2nd is absurd and shouldn’t happen. I also don’t think it’s relevant, because as I said, it shouldn’t happen. I don’t see how that’s a sign someone needs to have no opposition to a kpop idols visiting the US and screaming about how they like Trump, when they live in the country where he’s the president.

The thing with Suju getting more hate is true, yeah. The more controversial stuff you do, the more negative attention it brings. That’s just life. As for getting hate 10 years later it’s true that most groups probably wouldn’t get that much hate, partly because doing a lot of stupid and controversial shit makes you more memorable for it, and partly because few groups reach 10 years anyways and as such don’t live in recent memory for most. Also Suju have always been comparatively big, and big groups get more attention, which also means more hate. But be honest, how many groups are there in kpop that have done as much questionable stuff as Suju? Closest I can think is Big Bang who get more hate than Suju realistically. As for sharing the hate, yeah I’ll agree that any idol who gets on stage and screams about loving trump is at minimum an idiot. I haven't heard any idols doing that, but if you know some feel free to let me know.

I didn’t vote for him. In fact, I voted for no one because there is not a single even fractionally realistic scenario in which my vote has any effect on the result. My state leans heavily blue, and because voting is done by state, that means the democrats win. And it doesn’t matter how many people vote for each, only the winner. And my states not in the minority. In most states, your vote for president is realistically worthless, just as long as the extremes vote (which they will). Which, for the record, happened in Trumps first term election, where he won less votes than Hillary Clinton. Mandatory voting would fix absolutely nothing, not unless there’s a change in the electoral college system itself. So those of us unhappy with Trump have plenty reason to complain, and whether or not we voted isn’t that relevant unless you’re in the minority of states where the outcome wasn’t clear before a single vote was cast.

For the record, I think Leeteuk is more likely just a big cringey idiot than evil. But if your relatively big group does a ton of controversial shit over a long time, are you really surprised that when they do more controversial shit, they get more negative attention than nugu groups with clean track records? It doesn’t necessarily mean that their negative attention is completely proportional to the nugu groups with a clean record, but it also doesn’t mean that any negative attention they get is purely bias towards the group and unwarranted. If you have little knowledge about Trump and his doings (you said that yourself) and don’t live in the US and want to see this as a complete nonissue, go for it. But isn’t it a bit rich to tell people who probably know more about the topic and are more affected by the topic that their anger is misplaced? Like if you don’t know much of anything about it, why do you think you can really justify to others if it’s misplaced or not? The only scenario that makes sense is if you provide a similar example with a similar but different group where this or a similar situation happened and the outcry was nonexistent. If the scenario is only theoretical, it’s kind of hard to say you’re right because it’s imagination.
