I'm on episode 13 of 41 and I'm loving this show to death. I've read the books and this is the first live adaptation I'm watching. Theres been so many that I'm not familiar with the reputation of them all so I don't know if this was one of the better versions or not but for me its perfect.

Have you seen seen this or any other version?

I saw parts of "Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber" when i was younger, n i rmbr it captured my attention then. BUT i rmbr nthg of the plot, characters or actors in the show i watched. Wikipedia does hv info on different versions, n how they connect in a saga-sorta like how the Hobbit n LoTR are in the same world; just different times(the upcoming LoTR tv show might be 3000 yrs b4 the Hobbit).

The only actress in the show I'm familiar with is Zhou Xun. She plays the main female lead.

Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber is the third part in the trilogy.

the 1983 and 2003 ones are the favourites as far as I know
ik some took issue with zhou xun's voice (it's pretty deep versus the expected girlier voice for huang rong), but I honestly don't mind
idk about the 2008 version (it seems the most idol drama though judging from the main cast), but the 2017 was decent too ig (meng ziyi was weak though)

I didn't even think about her voice but now that you mention it I can understand it bothering some people.

The clips of 2017 I've seen look way to modern to me. Like it's too polished and the costumes are too nice. I like some dirt and grit in my historical shows and movies.

yeah idk if you've seen the newer xianxia/wuxia these days but it's
the fight choreography is pretty bad, no one knows how to properly do wireworks anymore apparently, and the reliance on slow mo to cover actors' inability act and choreographers inability to choreograph is getting really annoying
