I had a family emergency with my grandfather this past weekend. To keep it short, he has vascular dementia. He is still alive, but there's no telling what the future holds ahead of us.

  • Hold hands with those you love. It isn't just about intimacy and being there with support and love, but it makes people feel human. There's a really nice middle-aged guy that can't move his left hand, but his wife still holds his hand. He said doing so made him feel human and real again.

  • Family is family and don't let small things get in the way of such. I know not everyone has the ideal family and some have family members that are narcissistic, abusive, etc. I'm talking to people that aren't in these situations. My grandfather said something out of anger to my dad on facebook and mom snapped at him. She held a grudge, but after this weekend she has used this opportunity to get squared away and just be there by grandpa's side. Grandfather isn't perfect, but he really did love mom.

  • Spend your life doing something you like. My grandfather grew up as a very traditional person that didn't believe in women working. The fact he encouraged me to pursue only work I will like to do and have fun holds a lot more weight in his words. He supports me as a woman working and trying to make a life for herself.

  • Exercise. Whether it'd be a walk, going for a bike ride, swimming, dancing, etc. Don't push yourself too hard and take it slow. Start with up and down the street until you work your way up to a block. Your body needs you and you need your body.

  • Let yourself indulge every now and then. Life is experience, not a trial. Try to do some good for the most part, but let yourself live a little. Health is important, but your body will still die in the end.

Love each and every one of you. Don't forget to stan Kim Woobin and have a wonderful day.
