Why is everybody so teary because of this movie? It's a musical. Why are interviewers crying their eyes out talking to the two leads all the time?????????

What is in this movie that is so groundbreaking and world changing?

It has to be worth it. You won't even notice the Godfather was so long, but idk if Wicked will pace the same way

Where do all the emotions come in?

I saw it yesterday after the rave reviews. There are a couple of emotional scenes where Galinda and Elphaba (Ariana and Cynthia's characters) really connect, and the acting is particularly well done in those scenes, so I can see that making someone teary eyed. It felt shorter than I expected, like I wasn't checking my watch or anything.

I am not familiar with the musical it's based on, though I have read the entire book series the musical is based on. I'd say the movie was entertaining enough, though I feel like it glazed over a lot of the darker parts of the book that would have hit much harder.

I have seen posts like you're mentioning where people are, like, sobbing messes over the film, and I don't think it was that impactful either. It was like Barbie for me. Mostly VERY unserious with a couple of emotional scenes, fun music.

Very fair. I didn't mind paying to see it in theaters, but for the 90/96% on Rotten Tomatoes, I was expecting something more than just "that was fun."

(I think its becos) It's iconic/nostalgic from long ago Broadway musical, I only knew abt from Glee I think. Ig when ppl were younger they listened to the songs/knew the story(watched the Broadway musical) n are now grown n rmbr the time from earlier when it wasn't yet a movie.idk I hvnt watched it yet. But am interested to see Defying Gravity in a different context from Glee(if its even in pt 1).

I think ppl who watched/listened/knew the story of Wicked the Broadway musical at the time were emotionally affected, or so it seemed to me far away in S.E.A.land halfway across the world, I got affected a little too second hand watching Glee. So it may hv carried over to watching Wicked pt 1 the movie(unless it's kids/teens who were too young/not born yet when Wicked Broadway musical had its heyday. I think sthg similar but not as emotionallyaffected occurred with Hamilton the musical, again second hand from halfway across the world. It was a nice enuf show on Disney ig but only just tat for me.)
