listening to japanese kpop group releases is kind of healing for my soul (1 Viewer)

i remember yesterday i was listening to the jp version of teddy bear by stayc and it felt like it had a certain charm that the kr version didn't. i kind of thought i'd test this little theory of mine and i went through twice's entire jp discography. i was sort of right. many would say that the japanese songs kpop groups release tend to have a cuter lighter concept to their usual title tracks/singles but i think that's incorrect. many clear exceptions of this are voltage, breakthrough, perfect world, and The Sound. i think it's more that they give off a different vibe entirely in its own way. and now that i think about, it likely has less to do with the language or even the fact that its for a japanese audience. i think it actually has to do with how our brains process it. i feel like since we already go into it expecting it to be something different from conventional releases, that we percieve it as way different than it actually is. i've listened to jp versions of songs from my favs and they feel like completely different experiences because of this. they just give me so much more dopamine. anways idk if this makes sense but if you need a little bit of happiness today go listen to brand new girl by twice

For me it's confusing, but i get ur theory about our minds tricking us. But i wanna say that from a linguistic point of view, foreign kpop fans probably are more used to the korean language songs since they hear it so many times, even if they dont understand neither of it. Japanese probably is even more foreign for us since japanese releases arent that frequent as korean ones
