Cupid is the Latin form of the Greek god Eros. He symbolizes affection, attraction, and lust. His parentage has been up for debate, but in later years he has most often been viewed as the son of Venus and Mars. Cupids gold arrows/darts have the power to make the receiver fall in love with whoever they first see, and his lead arrows/darts have the result of having the receiver feel aversion, and to flee.

The Game
People said they liked my geography game last year, so you’re getting more nerd stuff This game is a word etymology quiz.

Aren’t sure what an etymology is? Don’t worry, I have you covered.
An etymology is basically the history of a word. Etymologies trace back the word to its old historical forms, and shows the evolution of words over time. The quiz is 8 questions. For each question, you will be given a word and its general etymological root. You will also be given 4 options. Your job is to guess which of the options comes from the same etymological root as the word in the question. But like the victims of Cupids arrows, some of these pairings can be unexpected!

Who wins?
After the event is over, I’ll look at the results. The people who get the two highest number categories of correct answers will win the game.

For example, if 5 people get 5 right, 2 get 6 right, and 1 gets 8 right, the ones that got 6 and 8 right will win.

If 3 people get 1 right, 1 gets 6 right, 2 get 7 right, and 5 get 8 right, those who get 7 or 8 win.

But if almost everyone gets 1 right and 1 person gets 8 right, everyone will win. Does this mean everyone could agree to try to do as badly as possible to all get the win? Sure. If you think that the remaining 21 will all do so

Rules​

1. Everyone gets one attempt.​
2. Of course you can’t use google or other sources.​
3. This quiz is open until the end of the event. It doesn’t matter when you do it, just as long as it’s done before that cutoff.​
4. DM me when you’re ready to get the quiz information and link. You won’t be required to do it immediately, so you would have time to ask any questions you have.​

Here is a very easy example question and answer (keep in mind the quiz ones will be harder):

A. Phase
B. Phonetic
C. Photo
D. Physics

The correct answer here is phonetic.

The words in question will all be English, but many if not all will have non English roots, coming from places like Latin. But the word to compare and the options will all be English words, and the language of the root won’t really be relevant since you’ll be given the root and meaning of the root Just like in the op, phone is also an English word but as the root its a Greek word (phōnē). But the word and options themselves are all English.
