According to My Daily's coverage on the 27th, the 2025 MAMA Awards, after repeated local meetings due to the massive fires currently raging in Hong Kong, has decided to proceed with the event rather than cancel it. However, they plan to tone down the event's tone and maintain a more solemn atmosphere. Furthermore, several artists have already departed for Hong Kong that day.
The MAMA Awards office informed the cast, "We are swiftly discussing appropriate response measures for each category. We will closely review the situation and promptly share any updates regarding official response and event management procedures, as well as artist performances and award scripts, as they become available."
He continued, "We once again apologize for causing concern to all artists and related parties. The office will carefully review the situation and determine the best course of action."
At around 2:00 p.m. on the 26th (local time), a massive fire broke out in a high-rise residential apartment complex in Tai Po District, northern Hong Kong. The blaze left at least 36 people dead and 279 missing. The death toll is likely to rise further, as some residents were unable to escape, particularly in the high-rise apartments.
The apartment complex where the fire broke out is approximately 21 kilometers from Kai Tak Stadium, the venue for the 2025 MAMA Awards, a 20-minute drive away. Hong Kong natives Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh were scheduled to attend as award presenters. The Hong Kong government raised the fire alert to the highest level, Level 5, on the same day, marking the first time since the Mong Kok nightclub fire in 2008.
"Hello. This is the MAMA AWARDS office.

To avoid confusion and ensure accurate communication, we would like to unify external media and external inquiries to the CJ ENM/Mnet Communications Team. We ask for your cooperation.
We once again apologize for causing concern to all artists and related parties.
The Secretariat will carefully review the situation and determine the best course of action.
