Mangroves are the only tree that can grow in salt water. To deal with the salt, they either filter it via their roots or they have salt grands on leaves that allow them to excrete the excess salt content.

When I was a kid, my uncles would take us on a swamp boat.
Apparently, I cried a lot every time we got near the trees.
The gators never made me cry.

As an adult, a gator would scare me more than a tree
wait actually no. Florida spiders love mangroves. I'd cry at both >.>
