My ID is gangnam beauty is a korean drama broadcasted in 2018, on JTBC
It's also the first drama where Cha eunwoo (Astro) play the lead male.
it's a drama based on a webtoon of the same name publish in 2016

Synopsis:

Kang Mi-rae decides to get plastic surgery after years of being bullied because of her looks. Her "rebirth" seems successful at first, but as her life at the university unfolds, her plan starts to backfire. The pressure of being a "pretty girl" begins to pressure her and, worse, those who can see through her surgery ridicule her and tag her as the "Gangnam plastic surgery monster." The drama follows Mi-rae's story of recovering self-esteem as she gets to know her coursemate, and former schoolmate in middle school, Do Kyung-seok .

My review:

the character :

Kang Mi-rae who is the lead female character is the stereotypical female lead of most korean drama, She's not confident in herself before doing surgery and still doubt about her looks after. She's very influence by the opinion of other and seems like she don't know what she's always indecise about what she want ( i told you typical female lead of drama)

In contrary the other character much more interesting

Firstly the male lead interpret by Cha eunwoo, As i'm not a big Drama fan and only watched few of them. I notice that the male lead is always the same, someone too confident, who know he is rich, handsome, he wants to date every girl. He's also the type of guy who will always push the female lead and be cold, distan and seems to not care about her that you end to think why she fell in love with him when he treat her like shit.
In this sense the character of Do kyung seok break this stereotypical male lead, He know he is very handsome but don't play with it. He is cold and distant but he really care about Mirae since episode 1. He's also a rich kids who prefer to hide how rich he is and care more about the person than the looks.

The female antagonist is also very very interesting in the fact that she don't really look as the antagonist until the middle of the Drama and even at this moment you're thinking " Is she really bad ? But if she is the antagonist why she do this ? " etc....
that until the middle of the drama you asking if she's really manipulative or she's just naive and not understand.

the secondary character are also very funny and interesting, every scene they had was great and it was disappointing to see that some of them didn't have more scene because there is more things to explore.
( Big up to Taehee, Eun and hyunjung who are the best )
also the fact that there is so many different type of girls, Tomboy, chubby, cold etc... was a good way to show how each type of girls react to the different standard of the korean society

the message of the Drama:

Honestly i had some apprehension when i heard it was a drama about plastic surgery because i was ready to see a drama where the message is "with a pretty face i live a better life" but no this drama still show this side of plastic surgery but it also show the the fallout of it and how this people how see by others and how even if you have a pretty face now it'll not erase the past.
I also loved the fact that the drama was not center on the plastic surgery and how people will start to attack her for this, but more how people understand her and accept her for who she is even after knew she did one.
and lastly i really appreciate the link they did between the gorgeous girl since she's born and the other girl, by showing that "ugly" or pretty girl can still face the same struggle and it's not a pretty face who make you a better person.
And showing that any girls not matter that they are pretty or ugly are still influence by the crazy standard of the korean society, who push some girls to put their life in danger just to fit in this standard that the media and the boy with who they interact impose them and the fact that the girl stand up at the end against the boy by telling them that they'll live their life as they want even it means that they'll not be attract by them was a very good scene
