so, the other day, I was almost sent to surgery for a piece of food lodged in my throat. I had taking too big a bite of my breakfast that morning, and at first, I did the things I usually do to get it down (or up) - gagging, gulping water, etc. - but it wasn't working. Then, when my caregiver came to pick me up for therapy, I asked her to do a back thrush (she was afraid to do the Heimlich bc she thought it would get stuck in my airways and then there would be bigger problems) - that didn't work. Went to get some chocolate milk and a donut - spat up the donut. Used some oil as recommended by my mom - nope. So we finally went to the ER at about 11:30 (the incident had happened at like 9:15), where they tried to give me crackers - even that didn't work. They then set me up for an upper endoscopy (where they would use a scope to fish it out), and then I got so scared bc I knew that would mean I'd lose my voice for awhile since the esophagus is so close to the voice box that I started crying. And at the very last second, literally just as they were coming to get me, the food dislodged itself and finally made its way down! The saliva must've pushed it down when I was crying. I think what also helped was Jesus, bc during my stay, I sent constant prayers and praises for healing me and letting me live. Jesus really does do wonders for healing!
