My Frustrations with HYLT (1 Viewer)

Sorry everyone, I can't rant on Twitter right now cause everyone is being attacked like crazy from there, but I have let this out somewhere. HYLT was such a blow to me. I love my girls, I really do, but what the hell was that? I really thought they would go for something newer finally when I heard the first 20 seconds of the song, but then it became like every other BP song. They seriously need to keep Teddy away from BP music. I am so happy that there is other producers for the full album. This same way of song structuring has gotten so boring: start off slow or with a rap, then a good bridge and then a drop, every time, that's the Teddy formula. The drops aren't even good anymore. His songs are no longer as good as they used to be. BP needs somebody new. But, that wasn't even the end of it, the choreography has declined so much in quality since DDDD. So lackluster. Barely any moves. This comeback was even more low. It just looked so awkward too...

Where is the powerful BP I feel in love with? The BP that released continues bops with even better performances? This by no means is BP's fault. They have so much potential and so much power, but YG is driving me crazy. I just pray that the album is not like this.

I'll just say this, Blackpink's been pulling a Momoland since D4 yet they get praised for it while Momoland got shat on, despite Baam being >>>>>> HYLT.

I really like the girls and always get hyped for the comeback but getting super tired of this.

Honestly HYLT just sounds like the first draft of KTL. Similar lyrics, sound and formula but less polished than KTL. I mean, I don’t hate the song but I agree that Teddy’s sound is getting too predictable and boring now. This comeback is literally just all about visuals. It honestly feels like YG just got tired of fans talking so he went to Teddy’s office and picked something out of his “draft” file and gave it to the girls. It really did start off very promising only to go downhill.

But someone made a good point before: HYLT is literally just a b-side on the album. So I’m going to save all my energy for the title + rest of the album. I can’t wait to hear everything else they recorded! I just hope the quality of the rest of the b-sides is nothing like HYLT because that would be depressing lol

I personally love it but Blinks seem to be done with this repetitive formula. Hopefully the rest of the album is more diverse.

It isn’t even only about Momoland but groups like GFRIEND always got hated on for apparently doing the same thing iver and over ( which is far from the truth) yet a group like BP get’s a pass every single time cause they are a girl crush group.

I love girl groups but the double standards even within is just so unnecessary and hateful and spiteful and it gotta stop.

Oooo hating on the new song, I'm in. Ye it sounded better at the beginning and it's different at least a bit from what they usually do but it's unfortunately still a standard BP song... with really easy moves and in a sense identical raps and singing just with kinda different words. That mean nothing to people anyway.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. BP is literally a group that's popular for visuals and not for quality content in any other manner, not even variety since they rarely do it and they're not that fun either, it's like someones holding them on a leash...
It's not really the girls fault for being good looking but... if they were good looking and actually given good content and not controled, I might still like them.

I don't want to be pessimistic but I believe BP peaked musically in their debut year. At this point is clear YGE/ Teddy just won't take any risk with BP and judging by the pre-release it seems like they'll stick to their formula until the end.

What really disappointed me was the fact that we waited for way over a year for a comeback, then when it finally happened, we get...this?
Don't get me wrong, I'm always for their visuals and the visualisations in the MV, but the song was disappointing and the story of the MV was just like most BP MV's.

If I really want to be honest, I'm not really sure that they should be this popular as in a smaller company, they'd have no where near as popularity as they have now and they'd probably just be an average GG.

I love the girls and I do think they have bundles of talent and charisma and it really isn't their fault, but their popularity isn't justified by what they bring out.

True. Miyeon I believe was going to debut in BP, but I'm glad that she debuted in (G)I-DLE, otherwise, although popular, she wouldn't be able to show her true potential imo.
She really thrives in (G)I-DLE and plus they are starting to get much more popular now anyway.

Yaaas, it's pretty obvious that Miyeon was someone meant for BP and she definitely would have been another Rose, wasted potential essentially.
Soyeon on the other hand uses them all so well I really hope they get even more popular than BP cause they def deserve it with how awesome of concepts they've done.
