Black Widow Antivenom is more dangerous than Black widow venom. If you ever receive it, it's generally a once in a life time event. A second dose is usually fatal. Most people bitten by black widows never know. Most black widow fangs can't penetrate your skin. Only the largest can actually inject you with venom... See, they aren't that scary!

Yes, the part about the anti venom is true. To receive it, if it's even available, you pretty much have to be guranteed to die from the bite. Generally the only people in danger from a black widow bite are people with extremely compromised immune systems, major preexisting health problems thats already killing them, the elderly, or infants. The antivenom triggers a very strong immune response. The second dose triggers an even stronger immune response which thus far has ended in Anaphylaxis. No one has ever died from a black widow bite. If you die it's brought on by complications from your other health conditions made worse by the bite or the treatment for the bite.

The coroner would list it as contributing to your death but not the main cause. If it triggers a heart attack or stroke then that is listed as the cause of death.

That's like the "fact" that there is only one cause of death: lack of oxygen to the brain.

All death can, in the end, boil down to that one thing. But it's usually arguing semantics in most cases.

Give the coroner a break, you want him to write that on ever death certificate!? He went through the same school doctors go through to learn how to save people and he just looks at their failures. He needs something to do!

From what I read that’s not actually that common with them. It does happen but how often sounds like it varies based on the species? Idk all that much though
