My two closest friends are getting more distant and it makes me sad (1 Viewer)

One of them is literally going to be more distant: they're moving across the country. The other one is less literal, but just in time/availability wise: they've decided to open their house to exchange students, so now they will have children dependent on them. (They claim this will affect literally nothing, but I'm not sure how going from zero children in your care to having children in your care would *not* affect your availability???)

This is selfish and I'll confess it to you all: I'm neither here nor there on the specifics of the decisions and I know they don't have anything to do with me, but it's a huge chunk of my social time disappearing at the same time, and I'm sad.

I had a similar thing happen to me with my best friend, but this was a while ago now. He suddenly moved so I haven't really seen him since then just still messaging is all we do now.

Ah, I'm sorry for you too! I know messaging is better than nothing, but it's still not the same as being able to do random nonsense on a whim with your bestie. I appreciate all the kind words.

I feel that way all the time unfortunately now I haven't seen my best friend in person in about 2-3 years but we still live In the same state so its just a matter of schedules, we stopped going to school together almost 4 years ago
I will say its fun to text and have communication with them but its not the same as hanging out, once I stopped going to my most recent school I have probably had an outing with my friends 2x in the last 6-7 months

its all a matter of how you keep the rls going once they move! sometimes people lose communication quickly because the other friend gets busy or stops talking. As long as you both are on the same page communication wise it wont be as hard
I understand where you are as far as the random outings, some days I text my friends and ask if they're available haha, maybe sometime soon you can visit ( once they move of course) , and whenever your other friend ( the one dealing with children) isn't too busy you guys can have a fun outing!
you guys could probably (if you'd like) come up with somethign nice that she could bring them along? I'm not sure what work shes doing with the children or else I duse better examples haha

I've been trying to make some standing plans, nothing major, just "let's commit to hanging out at least every other month until fall" and in person, I was told yes, but now no one wants to commit to actual details. It's like that "everyone wants a village, but no one wants to be a villager" vibe.
