see idm repetition, really. i would prefer a bit of melody to go with it. again, t-ara were the queens of this. bo peep bo peep is easily one of the most repetitive kpop songs ever, but it also has this incredibly catchy melodic chorus
speaking of t-ara, i would say in this current year yena got it right with catch catch. she has explicitly said t-ara were one of her main inspirations for the song, and like. it tracks. it makes sense.
even talk singing works for me if the vocal delivery comes with the right amount of pizzazz and charisma. the vocal fry is what sold me on whiplash when it first came out, otherwise i'd have written it off as an inferior supernova

oh yeah i know what u mean now with bo peep they're like "bo peep bo peep!" repetitive but it's a catchy melody. it's an ear worm.

1) songs that are over 3 mins long - I can even really take 2:30-2:59 songs, but once it gets down to 2:29, it's a no bueno.

I miss the 1st and 2nd gen group vibe and music, it's soo nostalgic and reminds of my childhood

for, it's a couple things (that is so me)
1. the lack of (good) longer rap-verse in current k-pop, there is not a lot of them
2. there is no school concept that is more-dark or even edgy, it's all bright and colorful, which while, I'm glad that it exist, the fact that it's just that, kills me.
3. the lack of variety in vocal style in k-pop and even just korean music in general, is actually hurting me because . . . there is no excitement for vocal-heavy songs, if they don't have unique way of singing of vocals, now, this is always a thing in k-pop but I am more critical of now since I have been listening to k-pop for 7-8 years now and started to listen way genres of all music as well.

yeah i think a lot of people even me agree that kpop was a lot more fun and unique back then. yeah and touring, it's a lot of work. i think it's cuz companies want to make as much money as possible since money does come from touring, but still, doing a lot of them isn't the best move...

i think get what you mean about vocal style. i don't listen to modern kpop, but i will say this: most idols nowadays sound the same when they sing. they tend to have these tiktok friendly vocals that consist of airy and light and it makes it harder for fans to tell an idol's voice part.

omg fast talking 😭 damn bro, not only are most idols live vocals are lacking, but even rapping isn't the same. i guess by this you mean idols lack rhythm flow in their rap verses. as there is obviously more to rapping then just fast talking.

no i think that was spot on. i think the reason why we're getting this is because we have idols who aren't designed to be rappers, rapping in songs when it isn't their strong suit

I don't think it's a modern k-pop listen thing but it's more noticeable after being a k-pop style for more than 2 years, lol.
but shout out to KIIRAS for having one of some unique vocalists in current day k-pop, it's the maknae 'Roah'.

as someone who actively on soundcloud for new k-pop raps, this is not a real problem, the problem that I'm thinking about is that an idol would spitting out a good verse and it would be a couple seconds or like 4 bars.

I don't think fast talking or fast rappin is still style anymore consider that korea doesn't like that style of rappin even if, they are still some fast rappers or choppers still active in korea, but I also disagree with the motion that 'rapping isn't the same' considering how 5th gen could be the best generation for rapping in k-pop, behind 3th gen, if they didn't fumble hard like 4th gen did.

I'd argue that rapping has never been good in K-Pop, at least not generally. Of course, there's exceptions (prime Suga + RM, Han Jisung, Soyeon, etc.), but rapping 2nd gen-onwards (I can't speak on 1st gen) has always been slapped in there simply to emulate popular western music of the time. Most so-called rappers were only given the position because they were vocally weak and do not possess any true rapping ability.

i do disagree with this a little because kpop had given us some truly great rappers like gdragon and CL. yes you can argue that the 2nd gen birthed some rappers that are arguably better than the ones we have now but yeah. i do see people compliment singing and dancing more often than rapping tho
