Not sure if this is the right place to post but this is sort of a KPop related question.

I know there is slang and acronyms to describe people within the K-pop universe. Instead of trawling through Google, I thought I would ask everyone here to help me understand some of the slang and acronyms and its meanings.

Reply with a couple of acronyms or slang words and their meaning.

sasaeng = stalker
sajaegi = manipulation

[StrayMixx]

daesang = top prize at an award show
aegyo = a way to be cute onstage that might annoy some fans
mukbang = a cooking and/or eating show

 

[centen]

maknae = the youngest member of the group
stan = fan; different from "stan" in the western context, where it means "stalker fan" and comes from Eminem's song "Stan." It's not inherently derogatory in kpop the way it is in western pop.

SM = SM entertainment, the company that has acts like TVXQ, Red Velvet, aespa and NCT signed
JYP = sometimes means the person (Park Jinyoung*), sometimes means the company (JYP Entertainment) that has acts signed to it like Stray Kids, TWICE, Itzy, and NMIXX
YG = YG entertainment, the company that has acts like Winner, BLACKPINK, and Treasure signed; used to also have Big Bang, G-Dragon, and 2NE1, who us long-time stans still remember for their impact on the industry

*(No, I don't know why JYP is the only company that people sometimes default to meaning JYP the person vs. the company. It's a weird thing where people confuse him with the company he started.)

A TON of acronyms you see will be group names. Like TNX = The New Six, a group under PNation. Some of them are official like TNX, and some of them are shorthand, like KIOF is the short-hand for the group Kiss of Life.

That's what's immediately coming to mind.

BP = BLACK - PINK

OT = Original Team

Bias = Fave Member in a group

Bias - Wrecker = The Fave that exceeds the Fave Member in a group
