it really did, I think it is mostly thanks to the games being easier to understand compared to other death games series (from asia as haven't seen any American death-game series that I can remember) and AinB as it made the death-game genre popular again.

for me it was okayish, I liked that the games were easy to understand and the acting was good, but the plot/story was kind of predictably for me. So for me, I didn't find it as good as people think it is but it wasn't bad either. Tho I really loved Gong yoo's cameo

All I can say is...do not watch it in English dubbed. It's bad.
